Stephen Dixon

Stephen Dixon (1936-2019) is the author of 15 story collections and 15 novels. His work has twice been nominated for the National Book Award for Fiction, and he has been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and a Guggenheim Fellowship. In 2016, he published his latest novella BEATRICE on Publishing Genius Books and his only Y/A novel LETTERS TO KEVIN, which includes his illustrations, with Fantagraphics Books. In 2019, Dixon released his next two collections of short stories: WRITING, WRITTEN (Fantagraphics Books) and DEAR ABIGAIL AND OTHER STORIES (Trnsfr Books).

Born and raised in New York, he published his first book, NO RELIEF, at age 40. From 1980 to 2017, he taught in the creative writing program at Johns Hopkins University.
